The black and gold design makes the entire design look luxurious and elegant. It makes it perfect for use in formal and informal events or occasions. I could honestly see myself wearing this at a corporate party or important dinner events.

Baby Blues

The almond shape is a nice break from all of the square nails, and the jewels and gold glitter make them stand out even more. I’m really impressed with this creative design that will definitely make you feel like a queen. The cool colors paired with the bright pink accent are an excellent choice if you want to stand out from the crowd.

Chic Teal Nail Designs and Ideas

“You can also experiment with reflective glitters or pastel shades,” she adds. If you love cat eye nails, then these turquoise almond nails with rhinestones and designs are definitely for you. The bright blue color of the turquoise is perfect for summertime because it brings out your tan. You can also make this look a little bit easier by replacing the designs on all of the nails with a simple heart or bird design. Tribal designs are very popular these days, they are easy to create and also easy to replicate. This dark teal nail art design is perfect for those who love tribal designs.

Accented White

If you want something a little more intricate and complex, try these turquoise oval marble nails with designs. They are definitely not for beginners, but they are so worth it in the end. With all of the different colors and designs, these nails will definitely make a statement. If you want a super easy but still very pretty look, try these turquoise and grey marble oval nails with diamonds and gold. This is an equally great design for beginners as well as advanced nail artists because it really doesn’t take much effort to create.

Introducing the jeweled nail trend to your toes in the best way. With a big toe decked out in sparkles and flowers, this design is ultra-elegant thanks to a grounding plain pink on the rest of the nails. Play around with blue, teal, and glitter to achieve a slight gradient effect on your nails. If you’re tired of sporting a classic French tip, try this “melting” design next time you’re at the salon. You really can’t go wrong with combining teal hues with gold flakes. Purple and teal is a perfect combination, but if you want to make it even better, why not try adding a touch of rhinestones?

#1. Teal Gel Nails with Lines

This is a design I would go for as I love how the colors go perfectly together. This time two nails are glossy teal, one is metallic teal and two nails are white. The colors and techniques are so trendy and this mani is perfect for the summer. Teal nails are best suited for formal occasions, but they can also work in casual settings. If you’re looking to get more use out of this trend, then try wearing them during spring or summertime.

And I know I will get irritated with myself for typing like a sloth. Teal nails are a safe and chic way to experiment with color and pattern. This shade of green is versatile and (depending on the tone) can work for any season.

One nail features teal and gold glitter ombre while the other is nude with a sparkly tip. The nail art is trendy and beautiful while the color combo is stunning. Try the whole look or use one of the accent designs instead of both. Furthermore, dark teal nails can be incredibly versatile, complementing outfits ranging from casual to formal. Whether you’re wearing jeans and a crisp white shirt or stepping out in an evening gown, this deep shade of green-blue will effortlessly elevate your ensemble. Additionally, dark teal pairs beautifully with other colors, creating visually striking nail art or accentuating jewelry and accessories.

They're outlined with a thin line of silver glitter to add a little pop. Perfect for Halloween, these hot pink patchwork nails are a ton of fun. Mixing solid nails with tips and other designs keeps the look fresh. The previous look showcased a French manicure on a short square nail, and this one utilizes the design on medium nails.

The base of the nail is accented with unicorny pastels for extra whimsy. If you want Disney nails that don't scream Disney, you can do a French tip with delicate Mickey Mouse ears on one nail. French manicures are usually super soft, as the shape of the tip mimics the arc of a rounded nail.

Celebrate the enchanting allure of a winter manicure with lovely pink and blue glitter nails. The teal accent nails are paired with delicate snowflakes for a hint of frostiness. Your Christmas party will be a hit with this light teal nail design. When it comes to nail polish, choosing the right shade can make all the difference. For those with warm undertones, dark teal is an excellent option. The rich blend of blue and green in this shade adds depth and warmth, bringing out the golden undertones in your skin.

So, whether you’re planning a beach getaway or simply want to add a bright touch to your everyday look, you’ll find a nail design for every taste in this article. The use of foil on nails is something that has been around since forever, but it still remains a great way to make your nail art stand out. Here, the combination of teal and nude with gold looks very classy and chic at the same time. Here, we see a marble effect teal color match with black and gray along with gold strips. And my last recommendation is the Artistic Teal and rhinestone Nail Design. As I have mentioned, that is a great design to get if you feel your partner is going to propose to you.

Now that you’ve chosen the perfect dark teal shade for your nails, it’s time to unleash your creativity and style them in a way that truly stands out. One option is to keep it simple and let the color speak for itself by opting for a minimalistic approach. Buffed and glossy dark teal nails can add an air of sophistication to any outfit, especially when combined with neutral tones or classic black. This understated look gives off an elegant feel while still making a bold statement.

Turquoise is a light blue/green color that’s great for Spring and Summer. It looks good on lighter skin tones, but it also complements darker ones really nicely too. You can wear turquoise when you’re going out with friends or even to work!

The combination of the two is so lovely, and it makes a statement. The design is also elegant and sophisticated enough to be worn daily. It is a design I would wear to the office or a night out. It’s been on the runways and in many high-fashion magazines, but this shade has been around for decades! In fact, the Pop Art movement glittered Mary Quant using teal eyeshadow in the 1960s. However, the trend seems to work best for people who have medium or darker skin tones.

This combination is very easy to pull off and looks great on any occasion. Shrimp is a cute little creature, and its coloring is just adorable. It would be perfect for holiday season, and it would also go well with pink and orange polishes.

Sun Plans :: Sun-Inspired Passive Solar House Plans

This two-story solar energy-efficient home has three bedrooms and one full bathroom with a wise design component that makes it function as two separate bathrooms while saving you at least $5,000 in construction costs. Each living space is situated to maximize energy savings; for example, the kitchen is located in the coldest area of the home because kitchen appliances create heat, warming up the kitchen without using extra energy. Is SunPower Still The Best Solar Company For Solar Panels?

I also use vent skylights (such as those from Velux) high in the vaulted ceiling to allow daylighting and create natural “stack-effect cooling,” which is what happens when the hot air rises up and out. Interior windows, doors and transoms can facilitate natural convective airflow throughout the house. To supplement, I use ceiling fans to mix the warm air in winter and provide air movement in summer. A design with too much equator-facing glass can result in excessive winter, spring, or fall day heating, uncomfortably bright living spaces at certain times of the year, and excessive heat transfer on winter nights and summer days. Movable insulation (e.g., window coverings, shades, shutters) can be used help trap the warm air in the sunspace both after the sun has set and during cloudy weather.

Site Your New Home to Save Energy and Maximize Natural Light

Passive solar building design sometimes uses limited electrical and mechanical controls to operate dampers, insulating shutters, shades, awnings, or reflectors. Some systems enlist small fans or solar-heated chimneys to improve convective air-flow. A reasonable way to analyse these systems is by measuring their coefficient of performance. A system that only uses a 30 W fan to more-evenly distribute 10 kW of solar heat through an entire house would have a COP of 300. It is difficult to control solar heat gain in a sunspace with sloped glazing during the summer and even during the middle of a mild and sunny winter day. Skylights are the antithesis of zero energy building Passive Solar Cooling in climates with an air conditioning requirement.

CLIMATE DATA

passive solar house design

So naturally, passive solar design is not going to work for every living situation. Even in climates where sunlight is readily available in the winter, passive solar design is often not quite enough to keep interior living spaces warm enough for comfort. For optimal sun conditions, passive solar buildings are designed to be facing the equator.

Apart from the building itself, this home also incorporates the landscape design elements that can easily be incorporated to optimize passive solar heating. As you can tell from the photo, trees around the property help shade the roof form the summer sun, while the overhanging awning shades the large windows. In the winter, these trees will shed their leaves so that the maximum amount of light can hit the building. The two-story greenhouse will share a wall with the cistern, which providesa temperature-moderating thermal mass.

Geothermal heat pumps

Homes that produce as much energy as they use over the course of a year are considered net-zero energy homes. These homes utilize renewable energy sources like solar panels and wind turbines to generate electricity. These are coupled with energy-efficient appliances and lighting systems to minimize consumption.

Energy Efficiency in Log Homes

“Think about water-conserving faucets and toilets, smart appliances that maximize energy and water performance, and other features that make living more sustainably even easier,” he says. If you’re working with a designer to build a brand-new home, it’s imperative to employ passive design, which reduces a house’s ecological footprint by using the local climate and landscape to its advantage. One way to do that is taking note of the orientation of the house in relation to the sun. Solar design in contemporary architecture is rooted in the profession's sustainable turn. The relationship between architecture and energy is tied to both passive strategies and performance via more recent innovations in technology. As one way to begin addressing the global climate crisis and greenhouse gas emissions, solar design is reshaping cities and architecture around the world.

Passive Solar Design: House Orientation and Window Placement

The energy design of Passive House buildings is developed using a spreadsheet-based modeling tool called the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) which is updated periodically. A building may be certified as a "Passive House" when it can be shown that it meets certain criteria, the most important being that the annual specific heat demand for the house should not exceed 15kWh/m2a. Passive solar lighting techniques enhance taking advantage of natural illumination for interiors, and so reduce reliance on artificial lighting systems. Measures should be taken to reduce heat loss at night e.g. window coverings or movable window insulation. Here at Solar.com, we want to see solar panels on every compatible rooftop in the U.S.

Owners can improve the energy efficiency of these homes by caulking and weather stripping, air sealing, and choosing energy-efficient lighting and appliances. Log homes use solid wood logs for wall structure and insulation, and require care in design, construction, and maintenance to achieve and maintain energy efficiency. Passive solar home design takes advantage of climatic and site conditions to provide heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. Cool roofs use highly reflective materials to reflect more light and absorb less heat from sunlight, which keeps homes cooler during hot weather. The purpose is not simply to plot climate data, but rather to organize and represent this information in easy-to-understand ways that show the subtle attributes of climate, and its impact on built form.

(Some plans have photos if the homeowner shared them.) Click on SORT BY to organize by that column. Home automation systems that monitor temperature, sunlight, time of day, and room occupancy can precisely control motorized window-shading-and-insulation devices. Alternatively, passive solar computer software can determine the impact of sun path, and cooling-and-heating degree days on energy performance. To maximize comfort and efficiency, the non-glass sunspace walls, ceiling and foundation should be well insulated.

This design will often have the garden and trees located in the part of the house facing north so they don’t block the winter sunlight. The windows should be positioned to maximize the amount of winter sun intake, meaning facing south in cold, northern areas. Passive solar homes also use thermal mass and effective distribution mechanisms to retain more heat. The Solar Decathlon’s Design Challenge is a one- to two-semester, design-only competition.

Passive solar design refers to the use of the sun’s energy for the heating and cooling of living spaces by exposure to the sun. When sunlight strikes a building, the building materials can reflect, transmit, or absorb the solar radiation. In addition, the heat produced by the sun causes air movement that can be predictable in designed spaces. These basic responses to solar heat lead to design elements, material choices and placements that can provide heating and cooling effects in a home. A roof pond passive solar system, sometimes called a solar roof, uses water stored on the roof to temper hot and cold internal temperatures, usually in desert environments. It typically is constructed of containers holding 6 to 12 in (150 to 300 mm) of water on a flat roof.

If you don't find what you're looking for feel free to drop a question in our advice column. The thick wall is also beneficial in keeping the house cool in the warm summer months. Before looking at other design strategies, always try to optimize the building design and form. On the other hand, you should focus on improving heat dissipation in warmer temperatures to keep the house cooler. Apple has submitted eight large language models to the Hugging Face hub, an online resource for open-source AI implementations. LLMs are datasets that generative AI applications use to process the inputs and work through as many iterations as necessary to arrive at a suitable solution. Usually we think of buttons as being colored rectangles with centered text – and iPhone apps certainly use those kinds. Given the current trend of promoting laptops based on their AI capabilities, it's easy to see Apple talking up how the M4 and its Neural Engine are optimized to run the best Mac AI apps on the market. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the ‌Mac Studio‌ with M4 chip is expected to be released in mid-2025, which would suggest a possible introduction at the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference. The iMac, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air lines have been updated with M3 chips, but the Mac mini, ‌Mac Studio‌, and ‌Mac Pro‌ are still using ‌M2‌ chips. The ‌Mac Studio‌ is designed for Mac users who have system intensive workflows that require advanced compute and graphics capabilities. There isn't a lot of differentiation between the ‌Mac Studio‌ and ‌Mac Pro‌ as of right now, so Apple may be planning for a more powerful M4 Ultra variant for the ‌Mac Pro‌. With the ‌M2‌ lineup, the ‌M2‌ Ultra is a chip that is in fact two ‌M2‌ Max chips linked together.

We may see nominal upgrades in the core count of the M4 MacBooks, but it's too soon to say yet whether Apple plans any specs upgrades more radical than that. But the company is typically pretty conservative about changing the specs of its laptops from generation to generation, so it's likely they'll be awfully similar to what we saw on the M3 MacBooks. The cheapest entry point, the 13-inch M3 Air ($1,099), starts with an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB of memory and 256GB of SSD storage. The ‌Mac Studio‌ hasn't had a design update since it was first launched in March 2022, but it hasn't really existed long enough to need a refresh. Apple tends to wait several years before making major changes to Mac hardware, and we are not expecting the ‌Mac Studio‌ to get a refreshed look in the near future. With Apple planning to refresh the ‌Mac Studio‌ with M4 chips in 2025, it's not entirely clear as of yet if there will be an M3 refresh this year.

Ahead of the 2022 Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple has shared details on the Apple Design Awards finalists. The Apple Design Awards highlight apps with outstanding design, innovation, ingenuity, and technical achievement. For developers and anyone else looking to place inclusivity at the heart of their business, Apple’s guide has many useful insights.

Apple has removed apps from the App Store that claimed to make nonconsensual nude imagery, a move that demonstrates Apple is now more willing to tackle the hazardous app category. A report suggests that Apple is still looking across the spectrum of AI providers for iOS 18, with OpenAi again in conversations with the iPhone maker. A new rumor claims that the forthcoming iPad Pro, scheduled to debut on May 7, could be the first Apple product with the next-generation M4 chip powering it. The authors of the models and the papers include Sachin Mehta, Mohammad Hossein Sekhavat, Qingqing Cao, Maxwell Horton, Yanzi Jin, Chenfan Sun, Iman Mirzadeh, Mahyar Najibi, Dmitry Belenko, Peter Zatloukal, and Mohammad Rastegari. If the company feels pressured to demonstrate how well it can integrate AI to make your day-to-day life on Mac better, we could see some fun stuff.

Only since the 10th generation of iPhones (iPhone X and newer) do iPhones have the “notch” design and rounded corners on the border. How Apple's iOS 7 Changes Everything For App Designers.

Apple raises the term “grandfathered in” as an example of a colloquial phrase that carries deeply exclusionary significance. With this in mind, if you truly want to bake inclusion inside your app, your service, or your company, then it makes sense to break out of the echo chamber and ensure that your teams are themselves diverse. One non-obvious thing about how iOS apps do input controls is they’re almost all styled as list items. Newer iPhones (X and more recent) all have a home indicator – a thin, rounded bar omnipresent at the bottom of the screen. When iOS nav bar rows disappear upon scrolling, they will re-appear when the user scrolls back to the top. If a search bar is important to see at all times, it merely moves up from the third row to the second row while the app is scrolled.

Its visceral brutality is more repulsive than engrossing, but The Last House on the Left nevertheless introduces director Wes Craven as a distinctive voice in horror. In August 2006, Rogue Pictures finalized a deal to remake The Last House on the Left (1972) with original writer and director Wes Craven as a producer. In 1972, he did not have the budget to film every piece of the story he wanted to tell. Many different versions of the film exist on various DVD and VHS releases struck from different cuts of the film, many of them from different countries.

Audience Reviews

Chilling remake of the 1972 cult classic chronicles the gripping tale of homicidal maniacs who seek refuge at an out-of-the-way house that happens to be the home of their victim's parents, who learn of the killers' crime and seek revenge. The next morning, Mari and Phyllis are bound, gagged, and put in the trunk of Krug's car and transported to the woods. Phyllis is forced to urinate in her jeans, and Mari and Phyllis are forced to perform sexual acts on each other. Phyllis distracts the kidnappers to give Mari an opportunity to escape but is chased by Sadie and Weasel, while Junior stays behind to guard Mari. Mari tries gaining Junior's trust by giving him her necklace and calling him "Willow". Phyllis stumbles across a cemetery where she is cornered and stabbed by Weasel.

Krug attempts to flee, but after being cornered by a traumatized Sadie and a chainsaw-wielding John, he is incapacitated by an electrocution booby trap. After a scuffle between her and Estelle, she falls into the backyard swimming pool where her throat is slit by Estelle. The sheriff arrives just as John kills Krug with the chainsaw. During a family vacation, teenagers Mari (Paxton) and Paige (MacIsaac) are viciously set about by a gang led by recent... When athletic teen Mari Collingwood opts to hang out with her friend Paige in town rather than spend an evening in with her parents vacationing at the family's remote lake house, it marks the beginning of a night no one is going to forget.

Mari convinces Junior to let her go, but her escape is halted by Krug. Mari vomits, quietly says a prayer, and walks into a nearby lake, where Krug fatally shoots her. As they try to find the key to their boat so that they can take Mari to the hospital, Francis happens upon Mari. When going after Krug and Sadie, who are in bed, they find Justin holding Krug's gun; Justin gives the gun to John so that he can kill Krug. Sadie awakens and John shoots and wounds her in the neck, allowing Krug to escape through the window and into their house.

A remake of Craven’s 1972 film of the same name (itself influenced by Ingmar Bergman’s The Virgin Spring), it stars Tony Goldwyn, Monica Potter, Garret Dillahunt, Sara Paxton, Spencer Treat Clark and Martha MacIsaac. Music is by John Murphy and cinematography by Sharone Meir. Estelle and her husband rush into the woods, where they find Mari's body and decide to take revenge. Estelle pretends to seduce Weasel, bites off his penis, and leaves him to bleed to death. Krug escapes into the living room and overpowers John before manipulating Junior into killing himself.

The Last House on the Left was released in the United States on August 30, 1972. While the film initially received a polarizing reception from critics, it was highly profitable, grossing over $3 million at the domestic box office. The rights to The Last House on the Left were picked up by Rogue Pictures in 2006, with the remake being the first film produced by Craven's newly formed studio Midnight Pictures.

American Cruise Lines: Tennessee River Cruise Review from Chattanooga

american cruise lines tennessee river

I am the only interloper on this river cruise who is not an American citizen. American Cruise Lines proudly attracts passengers predominantly from the United States who are eager to see their own country. I, as the lone Canadian (and foreigner) onboard, am interested to see it with them. Above the alpine tree line sits one of the most picturesque locations in the Appalachian Mountains. On this second day in the park, visit Clingmans Dome, a man-made observation point with breathtaking views of Smoky Mountains and the surrounding area.

Must-See Sights on the Mississippi River

Enjoy one of our themed cruises along the River, perfect for afternoon aficionados, culinary connoisseurs and history enthusiasts. The beauty of the Tennessee River Valley is all-encompassing, framed by acres of forest, open plains, and the breathtaking Appalachian Mountain range. The river echoes with the music that was born there, in the iconic recording studios of Muscle Shoals where legends created songs that would become the soundtrack of America. Civil War battles were fought, and rockets were developed to send men to the moon in unassuming small towns along the shore.

Why Travel With Adventure Life

Immerse yourself in its rich musical legacy as you stroll along legendary Beale Street, where music flows from every doorway, and savor the rich flavors and aromas of the city’s famous BBQ. After a day of exploration, return to the comfort of The Guest House. We were in awe of the river’s beauty, passing beautiful landscapes around every bend and mile of the journey. We passed riverfront homes, boaters enjoying their summer days, and farms like cornfields.

Day 4: Decatur, Alabama

With the most awards and itinerary options, find your perfect cruise with the leader in USA river cruises. Along with Civil War history, music-inspired cities, and incredible southern cuisine, you will cruise the Cumberland River through the Tennessee River Gorge and be amazed by the sights and sounds this region of the Mississippi has to offer. In Chattanooga, guests can explore local attractions such as the famous Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge and Coolidge Park, accompanied by our expert local guides. You will also visit Savannah, the largest town on the Tennessee River and home to the nation’s most well-preserved battlefield, Shiloh National Military Park. Enjoy the scenic ride from Pigeon Forge to Chattanooga where you will be greeted by our onboard team to begin your Tennessee River cruise. Enjoy a Welcome Reception on board as you begin your journey cruising along this breathtaking river with the majestic Appalachian Mountains serving as a beautiful backdrop.

Scenery on the Tennessee River

At Dover, your ship nestles in at the town’s lovely waterfront park. Locals often welcome the vessel and set up booths of crafts and tasty treats. The adjacent bluff is the site of the historic Fort Donelson National Park, a site that played a pivotal role in the Civil War. It was there that Union forces led by Ulysses S. Grant won their first surrender during this pivotal early victory in the struggle to gain control of the rivers. The comfort of your ship awaits at the nearby Beale Street Landing, docked along an impressive, recently renovated city park.

However, we love space and enjoyed learning about some new things that we didn’t previously know. We learned about Project Paperclip, which brought German and Austrian engineers and scientists to America after WWII. Wernher von Bruan was one such person – we won’t spoil it for anyone visiting, but he was a very interesting man who ended up having a significant and lasting impact on the NASA space program and race to the moon. If you’re efficient and don’t ride any of the simulators (which are an additional cost) one and a half hours is plenty of time to see the entire complex and we had more than two hours. If you’ve been to the Cape Canaveral area, part of Florida’s Space Coast, and have visited Kennedy Space Center, you may not be that impressed with this space destination.

Mississippi River Cruises

Board your ship and enjoy a leisurely day cruising along the idyllic landscapes of the Cumberland River. As you begin your amazing journey, relax on your private stateroom balcony and admire the beautiful views that stretch out before you. Get to know fellow guests in one of the lounges or at the evening cocktail hour.

After breakfast, meet your Adventure Guides and fellow guests to begin your Great Smoky Mountains National Parks exploration. In Chattanooga, you can explore local attractionssuch as the famous Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge and CoolidgePark, accompanied by expert local guides. You will also visitSavannah, the largest town on the Tennessee River. Post Office and Customs House as local guides share the historical importance of the city as a major tobacco port during the 1800s.

Begin planning your U.S. cruise adventure with American Cruise Lines today. From the coast of Maine, to the mighty Mississippi and Pacific Northwest, our Free Cruise Guide provides detailed information about all of our more than 50 U.S. itinerary options. Enjoy breakfast on board the ship, before beginning your journey home.

Be treated to the many treasures of the Tennessee River region, from exploring the capital of country music to tasting the world’s best whiskey. Ridge upon ridge of forest straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Led by your Adventure Guide, explore America's most visited national park, world renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remnants of Southern-Appalachian Mountain culture. Cruising the Cumberland River’s Lake Barkley is a special day that you will cherish. Army Corps of Engineers’ 57-foot Barkley Lock and Dam pooled the Cumberland River back for 134 miles and created a curving, stunning collection of coves totaling more than 1,000 miles of shoreline. From large windows and private balconies, enjoy the picturesque, everchanging panorama of grand, sweeping views of craggy, limestone bluffs.

There were modern twists and takes on quilting going completely beyond the “square” pieces of quilting fabric. There were more “traditional” quilts that took beadwork and sewing to levels we didn’t even know were possible. We learned more about how the Tennessee River shaped the area in the museum, which was very cool because we were sailing the American Cruise Lines Tennessee River itinerary. The museum had one table set up with complimentary whiskey and muscadine wine samplings. A shuttle ran between the ship and the museum every 30 minutes, or it was an easy 15-minute walk from the ship to the location. We rode a shuttle there and walked back to the ship for some exercise.

Entry was complimentary for American Cruise Line guests as an included excursion, so we figured to give it a go. It was very much small-town America, with a central main street with tiny shops and a courthouse. It was a great place to learn about the area’s Native Americans; the historically significant mounds in the area were mentioned several times in additional locations during cruise excursions. Something that is important to note is that in some cities, you have limited time in port, so you can only do one excursion, like in Decatur, Alabama.

american cruise lines tennessee river

There are so many reasons to explore the Mighty Mississippi River from New Orleans to the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Admire the breathtaking scenery that has inspired the country’s most legendary writers, artists, and musicians. Be treated to southern hospitality and historic charm at every port. The ship's travel-aboard entertainers and lecturers are also top-notch. American Serenade lacks a traditional show lounge, but instead offers evening performances from the husband-and-wife duo of Bill Wiemuth and Laura Sable in the cozy, forward-facing River Lounge on Deck 3. Both perform musical acts nearly every night, and Bill offers insightful lectures on the history of steamboating in the United States, the Civil War, and everything in between.

The itinerary includes a range of excursions such as visits to Shiloh National Military Park in Savannah, TN; the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL; and the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY. Guests can also enjoy active outdoor excursions like an ATV Backcountry Excursion in Chattanooga, or a visit to “The Shoals,” where they can golf 18 holes at the beautiful Robert Trent Jones golf course.

At one point, we passed what looked like a half-mile of a strip of sunflowers. Yet every step of the way, I've seen gracious crewmembers help them up the stairs, off the ship's bow ramp, and into the motorcoach. There's even a little golf cart that travels in the ship (in the retractable bow) to help get passengers up the often steep boat ramps and to the motorcoaches, where drivers are willing to help them onboard. American Cruise Lines makes exploring these places easy, thanks to its fleet of three branded motorcoaches that travel with the ship on its route. ACL offers a complimentary local bus loop in most ports of call, along with premium shore excursions that can be purchased for a reasonable price -- between $20 and $195 on our particular itinerary, with most coming in well under $100 per person.

Just upriver of your ship’s dock, the beautiful Tennessee River empties into the Ohio River. Also nearby are confluences with the Cumberland River and the Mississippi. The convergence of these four major rivers crossroads makes Paducah an important port centralized at the axis. Or greet the morning from your stateroom’s private veranda to read, enjoy the scenery, or watch the ship transit through the Ohio River’s newest lock and dam, completed in 2018 after 23 years of construction. The complete Elvis experience is yours with a stay at The Guest House at Graceland, including breakfast, and an exploration of Elvis' mansion and grounds. The main attraction in the city is its cute walkable downtown area and main avenue, and the National Quilt Museum.

MS American Harmony features innovative interior design concepts - from the 4-story glass-walled Vestibule (Atrium) to spacious indoor and outdoor lounges, large open-deck spaces, floor-ceiling windows throughout the vessel. The 4-decks high Vestibule has floor-ceiling windows (portside and starboard) and SkyLight (transparent glass-roof cover) that allows natural light into ship's interior. Many cruise ships have waterslides now, but Harmony of the Seas was the first Royal Caribbean ship to boast one. No, they’ve given you multiple, amazing water slides to choose from. While you do not need to go any specialty restaurant while on Harmony of the Seas, we think it is not a bad idea to give one or two a try while onboard.

Top 9 Things to Do on Harmony of the Seas

The ship was built as the third Oasis-class cruise ship, with sister ships including Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas. While the former two ships are smaller than Harmony of the Seas, the latter two are overall larger. On November 4, 2016, world's 3 largest passenger liners (Harmony, Allure and Oasis) met off Florida's coast.

Things to do on Harmony of the Seas

The new Harmony of the Seas ship is a novelty mixture of Oasis-class deck layout and Quantum-class innovations. Harmony of the Seas features a multi-deck water slide area that is a first for Royal Caribbean. It is also the first Oasis-class ship with robot bartenders serving drinks in the Bionic Bar, a concept that debuted in 2014 on Quantum of the Seas. Harmony has bigger cabins than Allure and Oasis in some categories, and windowless interior cabins outfitted with Virtual Balconies, offering a real-time view of the outdoors (first debuted in 2014 on Navigator of the Seas).

I Spent 7 Days on My First Adults-Only Virgin Voyages Cruise

While it might seem like a ship that has over five thousand passengers is bound to be consistently crowded, the reality is it rarely gets to a point like that. Royal Caribbean spent a lot of time working on strategies to make the ship feel quiet. The neighborhoods help with the flow of crowds, and the ship's reservation system integrates tightly with the dining and show management to control crowds. Lines can occur on any cruise ship, but they are rarely as awful as you might imagine on Harmony of the Seas. Started in 2010, Royal Caribbean Blog offers daily coverage of news and information related to the Royal Caribbean cruise line along with other relevant topics of cruising, such as entertainment, news, photo updates and more.

6,687 guests can sail on Harmony of the Seas, and for my particular sailing, there were 6,565 guests onboard - meaning the ship was practically fully occupied! Of the 6,565 guests on my sailing, there were 2,200 children (34%). Debuting in 2016, Harmony of the Seas is the third Oasis Class cruise ship. In fact, she is currently the fourth biggest cruise ship in the world behind Icon of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas, and Symphony of the Seas.

Among the largest and most celebrated cruise ships in the world, Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas is one of the best known cruise ship in the world. Harmony debuted in 2016 and has quickly become one of the premier ships in Royal Caribbean's fleet. With over 20 dining options on deck, you are sure to satisfy any cravings. If you note that you're honeymooners on your booking, we're told that waiters will sing to you, in true Carnival festive style. With so much to plan for your wedding, the last thing you want to do is stress out about your honeymoon. Cruises make excellent honeymoons because they combine pampering with travel – you can vacation to fabulous destinations, without having to do the hard planning work. Plus cruise ships have plenty of ways onboard to relax, with spas, celebrity-chef restaurants, culinary classes, butlers and swanky bars, plus the sea as your backdrop. While other small cruise lines repurpose old casino ships, American Cruise Lines decided to build brand new boats to maintain the company's reputation for premium quality and services. Each of the newbuilds features most innovative design, spacious indoor and outdoor areas.

From the best beach spots to hotels, restaurants, and shopping, your beach trip to Galveston starts here. Carnival Jubilee has so many places to eat that I ran out of time to try them all on my weeklong sailing. If you're seeking a between-meal snack or light bite, try the JavaBlue Cafe on Deck 6 in Grand Central. The cafe offers a sizable menu of specialty coffee beverages and tea, as well as free and for-fee snacks.

I will also ensure that everyone we come in contact with knows how they treated our friends and encourage them to use another cruise line. We have cruised many times with Carnival and have loved it but NEVER AGAIN. As for onboard activities, the Allure of the Seas offers a wide range of options to keep you entertained. From Broadway shows and live performances to rock climbing and zip lining, there’s something for everyone.

Carnival Vista Review: Outstanding Entertainment, Poor Dining Experience, and Decline in Service

Speaking of amenities, make sure you understand what you'll get as part of your fare and which extras will come with an additional cost. For example, most cruises offer drink packages for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, but a few have drink stations where you can get complimentary lemonade, coffee and tea. Other amenities that might be important to you are Wi-Fi, spa services, babysitting, fitness classes, and upgraded dining experiences. You can usually get a decent discount if you sign up for an amenities package before you sail, so keep an eye out for promotions in the months leading up to your sailing. It's so common for JavaBlue to be backed up throughout the day that an easy-to-miss sign directs passengers to other locations where they can grab a cup of coffee.

The vessel offers weeklong Caribbean voyages on a regular rotation from its home port in Galveston, Texas, meaning you'll find a healthy dose of Texas-style fun on board (more on that later). In fact, Carnival is so dedicated to keeping the ship in the Lone Star State that it had a Texas star painted on the ship's hull. When it comes to for-fee specialty restaurants aboard Carnival Celebration, Carnival pulled out all the stops. Most of Carnival’s staterooms are designed with families in mind, too.

Gartlan explains that the complexity of the case and the response time for each different cruise line will affect the length of negotiations. A CADRS staffer will respond to your request within 24 to 48 hours; after that, it could take a few days, weeks or even months to come to a resolution with the cruise line. CADRS will provide mediation and ombudsman services for complaints within the jurisdiction of the Federal Maritime Commission. In some cases, such as problems with documentation or safety issues, they might refer you to another agency.

'Your Time Dining' Open Seating 'Your Time Dining' is offered fleet wide. I understand that Carnival can't control the weather but it seems that they didn't put a whole lot of thought in making us whole. We went to all the roughest spots in the Bahamas and was given a $200 on board credit. They laid out food that wasn't covered and bugs were flying all around the food that wasn't fit to eat.

There are now 2 new cruise terminal buildings with all new facilities. If you walk through the cruise terminal you walk straight into city centre. If your cruise ship is not able to dock in front of the cruise terminal the port will provide a shuttle bus service.

Again, I couldn't fit every single restaurant into my time on Carnival Jubilee, so I missed out on Bonsai Teppanyaki, where chefs grill your food right in front of you, complete with corny jokes. I also missed Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, another Guy Fieri creation that serves barbecue fare, wings and microbrewed beer made right on the ship (lunch is free). I couldn't make it to Chef's Table, an exclusive multicourse small-group dining experience that's the most pricey meal on board, either. Both serve the same menu for dinner, but only the larger Pacific Restaurant is open for Sea Day Brunch on sea days and breakfast (but not lunch) on port days. It was completely different — different color, different taste and different presentation — from what I received when I ordered the same drink on a sailing two months prior.

But I can tell you that Spectrum of the Seas is their latest and most advanced ship. From the moment you step on board, you’ll be captivated by the stunning architecture and attention to detail. The ship boasts a spacious passenger capacity, ensuring that every guest can enjoy their voyage in comfort and style. From a young age, Asra was drawn to the power of words and their ability to transport readers to far-off lands and magical realms. If your concerns have been consistently ignored and your attempts at resolution have been fruitless, it may be time to escalate your complaint to higher authorities.
